Renewable Green Energy – based on experience

Anolis Renewable Energy evolved from Harvey Electrical, a Dorset based, family run, electrical contracting business which was formed in 1979.

The idea for the new company was first conceived in 2007 whilst Managing Director, Steve Harvey attended a conference with the ECA  in Rhodes. The theme was renewable energy. Steve said “We spoke extensively about the different practical renewable energy technologies becoming available and the need to look for green energy alternatives, due to the increasing need to reduce our reliance on traditional, fossil fuel based sources. This discussion moved on to the need to adapt our businesses to these new technologies.”

“One of the key points that the speakers made was that we have one of the most powerful energy supplies at our fingertips, all we need to do is harness it… this of course is the sun.”

Every year the sun provides 8000 times more energy than we consume worldwide. In 1 minute the power that the sun produces if harnessed correctly, could power every country in the world for a whole year. Steve continues “With the advances in domestic and commercial solar photovoltaic’s making them a cost effective and practical choice for homeowners and businesses, it was clear that this would be a major development in our business going forward.”

Anolis’s belief is simple, “How can we make a difference”?

Steve continues – “In 2009 we started researching for innovative manufacturers of these new technologies and leading suppliers. As we sourced the best green energy products to use, our experience within the electrical industry has made it easy for a move into the generation of electricity from photovoltaic panels, also energy saving products to help our customers reduce costs and their carbon commitment.

Gaining our MCS certification in Solar Photovoltaic in March 2010 was crucial, along with relevant training courses in installing these new technologies. It was soon decided that one of our chosen partners for the supply of Solar PV would be REC.

REC is a leading vertically integrated player in the solar energy industry ranked among the world’s largest producers of polysilicon and wafers for solar applications and a rapidly growing manufacturer of solar cells and modules, REC also engages in project development activities in selective PV segments. Founded in Norway in 1996, REC is an international solar company employing about 4,000 people worldwide.
